USA Supernatural History

Since I have labeled this a Super-Natural History, I want to clarify that this refers to The One and Only, The All-Powerful, The All-Knowing, The All-Seeing, The Sovereign God of the Bible. A.W. Pink stated, “God can only be known by means of a supernatural revelation of Himself. Apart from the Scriptures, even a theoretical acquaintance with Him is impossible. It holds true that 'the world by wisdom knew not God' (I Corinthians 1:21). Where the Scriptures are ignored, God is ‘the unknown God’”...

Genesis 1: 1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
26And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle…
Genesis 2: 8And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
9And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
15And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
16And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
18And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
21And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
24Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
25And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
Genesis 3: sup>1Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
7And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
9And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
11And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
12And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
13And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
14And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
16Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
17And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
19In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
22And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
23Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
24So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

God, in His wisdom, had foreseen the disobedience of man. In His love for His Creation, He also formulated a plan whereby man could be restored to the original state of communion with Him. This plan called for His Only Son, Jesus, to be persecuted, hung on a cross, die and then present His blood to God, His Father, to be the propitiation of man’s disobedience and sin.

Isaiah 9: 6For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

I Corinthians 12: 28And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

Our All-Powerful, All-Knowing, All-Seeing God has given us His Only Son to administer His plan. The scriptures are plain that this same God has delegated the oversight of the governments of this world to Jesus. Although Satan operates his devious activity, his ability to do so can only go as far as God allows. The account of Job follows, showing God was pleased with Job; as a matter of fact God was bragging to Satan about Job. Satan challenged God, saying that if God did not protect Job, he would fall and not serve God. God gave Satan permission to attack Job in several different areas.

So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD. Satan initiated his attack on Job. After killing his children, he received permission from God to take Job’s possessions, cause his wife to turn against him and God, then smote Job with severe painful boils. Even Job’s close friends turned against him. They thought Job had sinned against God and was being punished. Job went thru a period of anguish and self pity. He even wondered why he was born.

After Job’s friends persecuted him, Job remembered that God was sovereign and had always taken care of him. His friends even tried to get him to turn against God. But as he remembered, he knew he was in right standing with God. He trusted God. This turned his friends further against him. Job became more reliant on God to save him out of his situation and see him through it. You can read the complete account in Job 3-37.

As Job relied on God and began to pray, God answered him forcefully and reminded him of His sovereignty. The account is recorded, in Chapter 38 thru 41.

Once Job acknowledged God’s sovereignty and prayed for his friends, God completely restored Job’s family and possessions and gave him even more than he had before. Job’s life story firmly establishes the sovereignty, love and loyalty of God.

Further God provided a way, in His plan, for all of us to commune and have fellowship with Him. That way is Jesus.

John 14:6, Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Just A Rock

There is a huge rock near a gravel pit on Hwy 25 in rural Iowa... For generations, kids have painted slogans, names, and obscenities on this rock, changing its character many times.

A few months back, the rock received its latest paint job, and since then it has been left completely undisturbed. It appears the flag was draped over the rock, but it's not. It's actually painted on the rock too.

This was done by a teenager, Ray 'Bubba' Sorensen.

"ALL GAVE SOME
SOME GAVE ALL"
Ray 'Bubba' Sorensen

"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and success of freedom."
John F. Kennedy 1961

"We will not waver; we will not tire; we will not falter; and we will not fail. Peace and freedom will prevail."
George W. Bush 2001

God's Hand

The Word of God, the Bible, states plainly that all government and authority is put in place by Our God. He administers the governments as He sees fit. He even places those in authority to suit His plan and purpose.

When we are dissatisfied with our leaders of the world, we must remember this and trust Our Sovereign God to know and engineer the circumstances for the proper outcome.
