Start-Up
Odd & Foreign to Some

By its verbiage, Start-Up depicts the starting of something new. In this dissertation, it applies to a new business venture – perhaps not new in nature, but new to the individuals involved.

There are several areas that need research and/or decisions in order to proceed with a new undertaking.

  1. One must search their passions and determine what are the things most enjoyed. For the most part success is achieved far better and easier when it is a task we truly enjoy rather than a dreaded chore!

  2. Settle on the product or service you would like to offer.

  3. Perform a detailed market study to establish:

    • Does the entrepreneur have sufficient management knowledge;

    • Is there a market available;

    • What is the market area;

    • Who is the market;

    • Identify all the demographics of your market.

  4. Prepare a Business Plan. The details in the Plan should be definitive enough for you to determine:

    • Feasibility;

    • Timing;

    • Marketing;

    • Profitability;

    • Funding Requirements.

The Plan should be a detailed plan to conclude whether the project is “Go” or “No Go”. If it is “No Go”, file what you’ve learned and say, “Next!” If it is “Go”, it will be your blueprint to operate your new venture. By the way, be extremely honest in your assessment of Plan results. If you are not and let emotions rule, you are only hurting yourself!

Some entrepreneurs (I call them gamers!) massage facts and numbers for the sake of trying to get an “angel” involved. This always is at the expense of profits and good business! Please never, never falsify a projection to obtain funding.

There are many sources for capital; some good; some not so good; some bad! We recommend one good one for Start-up Business Loans. Check it out!

There are also many considerations for your Start-Up. As you refine choices, you might consider incorporating a website to let people know of your activities. Perhaps you might even consider a website as a primary thrust of your new venture. One word of caution is, the only way a website is of value is for interested people to view the content. The best approach to site building (head and shoulders above anything we have seen!), is SBI-TV!

Regardless of your choice, Plan Your Work! Work Your Plan! If you follow these simple guidelines, your Start-Up will be an awesome success for many years. And guess what, you’ll be one happy individual operating that fabulous, fun, rewarding business!
