What is Lifes Purpose?
We have all wondered, “Why am I here?” “What is my Lifes Purpose?
In
The Master Plan
page, we outlined God’s purpose for everything, including us. Of course, this is only, if one believes the Bible to be the inspired Word of God, giving all the details we need as an Operations Manual for our life.
Many suppose they are here to:
enjoy life;
raise children;
look after a family;
make money;
leave a mark on this world;
pass on a legacy.
While all of these things are commendable and in order, they are not Lifes Purpose! In order that we might establish happenings and circumstances from the beginning to the present, we will give you some facts and references from the Bible.
God, the Father, like the Son, Jesus and the Holy Spirit is omnipotent (all powerful), omniscient (all knowing) and omnipresent (infinite, limitless, universal, His presence is everywhere). God, the Father, is the Father of all life. (Psalm 19:1, John 5:26).
If you’ve read this far, I suspect you do believe the Bible and its provision for our direction. Assuming that, let’s explore Lifes Purpose.
God, the Eternal Father of all, through His Son, Jesus, created all things. This creation was done in strict accord with His administration, design and blessing. The primary purpose for this plan was to create mankind (we will use man hereafter to shorten verbiage) to be a part of God’s family so that they might be a companion. If man was to be a part of God’s family, He wanted man to do so by choice, thus the makeup of man included a freewill so that he might have a choice to commune with God, or not.
In order for man to be that companion, God required loyalty and obedience to align with His holiness. He set forth some very simple rules for man to abide by. In His infinite wisdom and by His omnipotence, He knew man would take the path of disobedience through greed. The result of this disobedience was sin entering the world. This caused separation from God and a curse upon all the earth. Now man must make his own provision for food and shelter by the sweat of his brow.
For the Father to re-establish a relationship and commune with man, a price for the disobedience had to be paid. Once this price was paid, the relationship between God and man could be re-established. God, the Father, elected to supply that price in the form of a blood sacrifice from His Son, Jesus.
In order to implement this plan, man, using his free will, would need to make the choice to accept the arrangement and agree to follow Jesus. Once man accepts Jesus, the Christ, as the propitiation for sin and repents for his sin, God and man are again in accord pursuant to the original design of God.
Once this occurs, we get to Life’s Purpose, whose basics are:
Love God – Mark 12:30;
Be a part of God’s Family – John 14:6, Acts 17:28, Ephesians 3-15, 4:12-16, I Corinthians 12:12-14, I Peter 5:10;
Become like Jesus – Matthew 5:48, Ephesians 5:1, I Peter 1:15&16. (A Christian, according to Webster, is “Christ like”, resembling Christ in character, spirit, actions, etc.);
Serve God – Matthew 4:10, John 12:16, Romans 12:1&2, Colossians 3:24;
Tell others about God and His plan – Mark 16:15, Romans 10:15.
If we achieve these things, we will fulfill God’s objective for our life. In order to assist those who want to accomplish this, we offer additional information in the most informative books, besides the Bible, that we know. They are
