Justice
Justice is defined as: - Honesty;
- Integrity;
- Impartiality;
- Validity;
- Fairness;
- Fair Dealing;
- Righteousness;
- Even handedness.
An integral part of our overall life management includes the pursuit of equal justice in all our dealings. Upon review of these definitions, we recognize that all are in our repertoire as requisite to proper business principles. This applies, whether we are employed or operating a business. Many times this comes at a high price. Say we merely need advice on a simple contract for cell phone service. If we want a lawyer to review the contract and just give basic advice, the cost may range from $200 to $500. If we have several such needs beyond the cell phone service contract, we would probably be wise to place the lawyer on an annual retainer and let the time used be charged against the retainer. Depending on the projected usage, the retainer fee can range from $500 to $5000, and up. If we feel we are proficient in legal documents, we may choose to proceed without outside review. If, in fact, we are proficient and accurate, this is by far the most economical approach. If we happen not to be that proficient individual schooled in legal matters, and choose to proceed without legal advice, regardless, the cost can be astronomical. How many times have we all signed a legal document without legal counsel input, and perhaps not even reading all the “fine print”. The cost can be astronomical and disastrous. Obviously, this can put assets at risk and result in major setbacks to our plans and goals. Its ironic; the top 10% of society can afford the lawyer on retainer; the bottom 10% is furnished the lawyer by virtue of our tax dollars; 80% of us are left to our own devices. There are several ways to guard against these pitfalls. Perhaps the best are vigilance and/or surveillance. Get your SHIELD UP and keep it up!!!
