False Prosperity???

We consider prosperity what we hope for. I invite you to reflect considerably on that statement, i.e., what do you truly desire (hope for) in your life?

Since we were very small, we are taught to acquire things. The pride of ownership was one of our most important lessons. As a youngster, we wanted virtually everything we saw that was attractive (and most was). As adults, for some, that has not changed much.

That's False Prosperity???

I often have occasion to watch people in the public arena. The majority have children that run from parents; that want everything in sight; that cry uncontrollably; that scream continuously at an ear-piercing decibel level for no apparent reason; that tell parents “No!” to virtually all attempted correction (and they get by with it). It is clear the children have had no adequate training. Those kids have been left to their own wants and desires, with no proper correction or direction.

I feel strongly, this situation is the root cause of many of the problems our youth encounter today. A few will figure out how to conduct themselves as adults, merely by getting bumps and corrections from society. However, and it’s sad, the majority will find themselves in legal jams; no good way to conduct and raise a family; no adequate training to make a good living. At best, the majority will take whatever jobs they can find, at whatever income they can get (or steal).

I see adults working in retail stores, stealing from their employers, either in time or merchandise. I also see the public stealing from those same retailers.

Although major retailers have Security, some also have policies that promote thievery. One I know will allow theft of up to $25.00. If a customer is caught with items within this range, the product is taken by the store; the thief is released and told to not steal again. I inquired as to the reasoning behind this policy and was told, “We want them as customers. If we prosecute, they will not come back”. My opinion, this is pure greed or pride on the part of both the retailer and customer.

If we look to the church, we find much the same. Few Pastors teach the complete and true Word of God. Perhaps this is due to inexperience of the Pastor or maybe it's actual deception in order to attract a congregation.

Many preach a message of:

  • We must take over the world for Jesus!;
  • If you give, you will receive an hundredfold return;
  • If you have enough faith, you can do anything;
  • If you don’t receive your healing, you don’t have enough faith;
  • etc., etc., etc.

In analyzing all of the above, it is clear that most people's
perception of prosperity is to have whatever they want!

 I do not find anything in the Bible suggesting I can have anything I want.  My Bible tells me to seek first the Kingdom of God, and all my needs will be looked after.  I would suggest that you consider, only have faith in the Sovereign All-Mighty God of the Universe.

My Bible reports Jesus as saying, "Come follow me". Nowhere does it say for me to go first and Jesus will clean up after me.

My Bible also records that the only way to God is through Jesus. That means we must first repent and accept Jesus as Lord, Master and Savior.  This entitles us to be redeemed and receive the promise that our name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life and we will spend eternity in Heaven with Jesus and Our Father!

Anything short of this is False Prosperity???

12For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
13Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
14For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.

Proverbs 3:12-14
