Are You In Control of Your Destiny?

When we speak of destiny, we often consider something beyond our control. In this writing, we suggest that we focus on our destiny or destination in life; where are we going?; how will we get there?; and what will be the result or outcome?

All of us have many aspects to look after. A few of those in general terms are:

Family;

Vocation;

Health;

Retirement;

If you briefly examine each of these factors individually and follow these ramblings, I’m sure your will find situations related to you, your family, and your state of affairs.

FAMILY

Outside influences on our lives, particularly our children's lives, are tremendous, huge, and in some cases, out of this world. The mindset of copywriters in every facet of media is astounding. If the content is not sensational, sexual, violent or at least threatening, it seems not to be worth mentioning. Good news hardly gets a mention, except on specific programs.

The world today is not an easy environment in which to raise a family. The old adage, “keep up with the Jones”, is worn, but still true today. We see others with “things”. Even if the greed or envy issue is not present, we often would still like to have “things”. This applies particularly to our family; those we love; those we want to do better than we have. This scenario often plays out to disaster. We may easily overextend the ability to handle our financial obligations.

VOCATION

As we make the daily rounds pursuing our vocation, looking after our destiny, whether working at a job or looking after a business, the demands are colossal. With office closings, corporate layoffs, employee downsizing, lack of jobs, high gas prices, and long commutes; it is now necessary for many people to earn an extra income. In the majority of homes both parents work to provide what they consider the best for their families.

Most of the youngsters in trouble today have merely grown up. I mean they have gained years; but, no training; no knowledge of life; nor values that truly make a substantial mature individual. I attribute this to both of the parents working out of the home, not able to spend time in loving and training the children.

There is a little saying, “A wild animal, given its head, without training, is not a nice thing to be around.” This defines, to me, the majority of youngsters with difficulties today. If they do not change, their destiny is a foregone conclusion.

HEALTH

The” health industry” is massive. We are programmed to make frequent, periodic visits to various health professionals. Generally, those professionals prescribe numerous chemicals for us to ingest (many to our peril).

While we’re not suggesting that medicine and health professionals are not needed, we sure are pointing out the fact that the “health industry” has been made a field for profits rather than health care. We need all the help we can obtain to guide our destiny where health is concerned.

Nature provides alternatives to modern chemical medicines and natural remedies have a proven track record going back thousands of years. Everyday plants, fruits, herbs and spices can give health benefits for many common ailments.

RETIREMENT

Planning for retirement sometimes seems virtually futile! At best, it is a great challenge. Some are fortunate enough to have sufficient funds to live in retirement as they would like. They are certainly in the minority.

The “middle classes” of this world have carried the burden of taxation and care of the elderly and infirm most of their lives. In today’s society, with the “downsizing”, “cutbacks”, “outsourcing”, “real estate debacles”, “cost of living escalation”, etc., it is hard, perhaps virtually impossible, for an individual to adequately plan a successful course to retirement.

SOLUTION

Do you feel that you just really don’t have a fair shake? With all the chaos, would you like to have a fresh start and change your destiny?

If we are truly honest in our individual assessments, everyone of us will acknowledge there is a void. This emptiness is created by design.

We have a Creator, Who designed the entire universe. A part of that creation is us.

God, The Creator, placed within mankind a desire to have fellowship with Him. We experience that desire by feeling a void in our life. That void is created by design. There is something missing.

Often, we attempt to fill this empty space with “things” which we have at our disposal. For this reason, we find lots of “things” unbeneficial to our wellbeing. Many times, the “best” is not necessarily having more “things”. It generally is best for families to be somewhat satisfied with what is needed (not wanted!!) and to enjoy the family unit as a whole.

The answer is not “feel good drugs” or something akin, but a true relationship with the One Who created us. If we find and cultivate this relationship, we find satisfaction and peace, sometimes with very little change in our circumstances. The change will be in us!

I invite you to explore the Bible, John 3:16 & 17, which says how much God loves us and wants fellowship with us.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."

"God so loved His human creation that He sent His only begotten Son to shed His blood and die for a people who will repent and accept Him as their Savior and Lord. His love for us in unlimited. Jesus is a risen Savior and is seated at the right hand of God the Father. His greatest desire is for you to spend eternity with Him."

"If you are one that would like to repent and accept Jesus into your heart as Savior and Lord, all you need do is bow your head and ask Jesus to forgive you of all your sins and ask Him to come into your heart and be your Lord. If you really mean this with all your heart, He will do just as you have asked."
