Credit Cards
Asset? … or
Liability?
Credit cards can either be a tremendous asset or a
terrible detriment. Either way they carry a heavy risk if not shielded
properly.
It is not hard for someone to use your card. All they
need is the basic information, i.e., account name, account number and
expiration date.
How many times have you handed your card to someone for
processing without total scrutiny of their every action? Perhaps you’ve
even given it to a food server, who takes it somewhere and then brings
it back. We have all done that. We have no idea what was done with the
card and/or information, nor do we know who had access to it.
Have you ever purchased something on the internet and
entered your basic information without checking to make sure you are on
a secure site? Some have!
Do you use a wireless device in your home or office for
your computers? How far do those things transmit?
If anyone striving to steal your information is
proficient, we supply them with adequate opportunity. Again, the
watchword of the day is “vigilance”. Be ALERT!!!
There are some good programs to help shield against
identity fraud. Some of these are administered by card issuers. Some
are issued by private firms. Stay alert!
Keep your SHIELD UP and ready!
